Excellence in Business Award

The Centre for Distance Education was honoured Tuesday evening with an award for Excellence in Business at the Sydney and Area Chamber of Commerce 18th annual Business Excellence awards gala.

The Sydney and Area Chamber of Commerce defines itself as “a working partnership of business and professional people who are interested in their community. While it represents business and the professions, it is an organization of those who know the wisdom of co-ordinated effort for the civic, industrial and commercial advancement of the area it represents.”

Forty-seven businesses were nominated in several different fields, and CD-ED was chosen as the leader in its field.

We’re proud to share this honour with the Cape Breton Centre for Craft and Design, the Every Woman’s Centre, Lotherington’s Flowers and Gifts Ltd., and Investors Group Financial Services. Special awards were also given throughout the evening to Taso Snifnakis, Bras d’Or View Restaurant, Laurentien Steel Fabricators, and Cape Breton Explorations Ltd.

We are gratified and privileged to accept this distinction, especially in such illustrious company. Each and every one of our employees takes a share in the award; without our excellent staff, we wouldn’t be the success we are.
